Adapting to the new normal is the priority of different businesses. Malls have suffered from the pandemic. For malls, it is important to take a closer look at the changes in the attitude of their customers because there is a chance that they are going to see a decreasing number of mall-goers. Now that people are more than willing to spend more on online purchases, brick and mortar stores found on malls are struggling to make ends meet. And as more stores closed on malls, you can’t blame malls if they also close.

What can they do to adapt? They have no other choice but to promote social distancing, provide disinfection, and even limit the number of people going in stores. On top of that, it might be a good idea to cater essentials rather than non-essential items to be able to generate sales. Of course, this is easier said than done. Now that there is growing popularity of online businesses, it might be a good idea for malls to also offer this type of service to adapt to the changing times. And lastly, might as well lower the rent to be able to attract new businesses to occupy spaces that have been closed.
