The COVID19 situation is far from over. What started in China has made its way to different parts of the world. And several industries were forced to close due to the lack of foot traffic. This includes gyms, restaurants, and other businesses that relied on people gathering in their premises. Mall operations have also been affected by the pandemic. More people no longer go to the mall simply because they fear of getting the virus from going to such places.
If malls want to survive, they must adapt to the new normal. For places that have already somewhat decreased their number of active cases, it becomes easy to operate and open different stores. They can provide temperature checks and should require mall-goers to wear masks to be able to prevent the spread of the virus. However, can malls really keep up? It depends on where you are located. You can expect that some malls are going to close. Now that people are relying on online shopping for their needs, a lot of stores found on malls won’t be able to support their business and are forced to close.
