ICSC Recognizes Three Industry Leaders with Trustees Distinguished Service Award
LAS VEGAS, May 21, 2017 – The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is proud to recognize three industry mavens with the Trustees Distinguished Service Award.
The Trustees Distinguished Service Awards are presented to ICSC members who have made significant contributions to the industry and established themselves as leaders within the organization. This year’s recipients are: Robert L. Thatcher, CRX, CLS, CMD, CDP, Director of Franchise & Real Estate Development Ben’s Soft Pretzels, R. Michael Goman, CRX, CSM, CLS, Principal Goman + York LLC, Peter Wilhelm, CEO Wilhem & Co.
The Trustees Distinguished Service Awards honors these three members for their important contribution in the growth and progress they have helped ICSC achieve. “These distinguished honorees represent some of the many bright and innovative minds the retail real estate industry is lucky to learn from and ICSC is lucky to work with,” said Tom McGee, President and Chief Executive Officer of ICSC.
About The 2017 Trustees Distinguished Service Award Winners:
Robert L. Thatcher has proven successful in both in real estate development and ICSC. His passion and dedication to ICSC since joining in 1994 is exemplary. An ICSC Ambassador, past ICSC Central Division Government Relations Chair, Past Indiana Government Relations Chair & Operations Chair, a member of the 2007 Indiana Idea Exchange Program Committee, Thatcher is one of fewer than 20 members with all 5 professional designations. Mr. Thatcher is also an ICSC PAC Supporter Faculty Member of the T. Riordan School for Retail Real Estate Professionals and a former instructor at RECon Academy where he taught from 2009-2011.
R. Michael Roman has accumulated more than 35 years as an ICSC member and truly embodies the spirit of leadership, dedication and education in that time. The current government relations chair of Connecticut, Mr. Roman is also the past state director of his state and the past eastern division government relations chair. Providing the leadership to collaborate with state and local government, Mr. Roman served as a member of the Economic Subcommittee in 2004 and served on the New England Idea Exchange Program Committee in 2003 and 2014. Passionate to teach others, Mr. Roman is an instructor at the University of Shopping Centers & Executive Learning Series and is a Speaker & Moderator for ICSC Alliance Program Events.
Peter Wilhelm has been a passionate European member since 1997. A member of the European Advisory Board and the current Chairman of ICSC EPAC Committee since 2009, Mr. Wilhelm continues to promote ICSC around the European region. Previously, Mr. Wilhelm was the European CEO for the Forum Planning Committee in 2011, a member of the European Property School Planning Committee in 2007 and 2012 and a part of the European Nominations Committee in 2007.
The Trustees Distinguished Service Awards were presented on May 21 during a ceremony at RECon, the global retail real estate convention held in Las Vegas.
